A pied-à-terre imagined as a discreet, elegant cocoon in the heart of Paris

Every project tells a story. This one began with a first meeting during the lockdown period. Our clients initially reached out to Véronique Cotrel for the design of their country house. A few years later, they returned - this time with a new chapter: the complete renovation of their Paris apartment.

People often ask : Does the studio have a signature style ? It’s a question that requires self-reflection, which is never easy. My answer is usually this: our work doesn’t start with a style. It starts with a place. The apartment is rooted in a neighborhood, shaped by a history, by proportions, by light. It has quirks to resolve, and strengths to enhance. And just as important: the program. The clients’ needs, both functional and emotional - the number of bedrooms and their favorite color - are treated with equal attention. It’s from this dual reading, of place and people, that we begin to shape something real.

The Day Area

For this small Parisian pied-à-terre, our clients wanted something practical and well thought out, where they could easily settle in and feel at home during their stays in the capital. So we designed a fully open living room with an open kitchen and a central island/bar that serves to delineate the area but also to create a small dining space. The kitchen had to blend in perfectly with the living room, which is why we chose wood for the cabinet fronts and soft colors for all the furniture.

The Night Area

For this pied-à-terre, the sleeping area received particular care. The goal : to create a classic primary bedroom while also offering an additional sleeping solution - discreet, practical, and elegant. We designed a custom alcove, fully integrated into the space, with a true mattress and structure. It feels like a small, serene cocoon - perfect for visiting guests or an occasional overnight stay, without compromising comfort or aesthetic.

This project reflects our approach to interior architecture : thoughtful, human-centered, and always anchored in context.

Let's bring your space to life.
