Renovation of a Parisian apartment in the true Haussmannian spirit

This apartment, located in the heart of Paris' left bank, has been restored to its former glory. But in the process, it has undergone a major technical transformation! We have restored or refurbished many of the original features, improving them in the process. First of all: the parquet flooring! It was in poor condition. Replacing it allowed us to review the entire floor insulation, both acoustic and thermal. We used leveling granules and gypsum and water-based panels. A very natural, lightweight material that provides excellent acoustic comfort! Once the substrate was prepared, we laid herringbone parquet flooring. The room boundaries and installation spacing were all carefully designed to give the visual impression that this parquet flooring had always been there!

For the facades, all exterior woodwork was replaced. Of course, we carried out what is known as a “total removal”: the frame was completely removed and separated from the masonry. This allowed us to preserve the original natural light. Period materials were respected: the windows are made of wood. Finally, the window bolts were recovered, stripped and restored in the workshop, then refitted to the new joinery. This type of work must be carried out by craftsmen who are thoroughly familiar with the Parisian and traditional context.

The dining room adjoins the kitchen. It contrasts with the rest of the apartment and attracts curiosity. Dark colors are perfectly acceptable in a Haussmann-style apartment. In fact, they were regularly used at the time, in paint or wall coverings. The framing of the decor that has been installed here highlights it and turns it into a real picture, visible from the living room.

On the other side of the living room is the master bedroom. It can be accessed from the entrance or the living room. The upholstered headboard was custom-made. From the bedroom, an aged mirror sliding door leads to a beautiful shower room. You walk through the dressing room on your way back to the entrance and the children's area.

The apartment has a dedicated children's area. It comprises a shared bathroom and two bedrooms. In each bedroom, the alcove is no accident. It organizes the space and provides a place for elegantly integrated storage. It is also the perfect place for a bed, creating an intimate relaxation area. The choice of colors and furniture, wallpaper, finishes... each room has been designed according to the tastes of its owner.
