The brief we received from the clients was clear: after several months of widespread remote working, the teams needed to be encouraged to return to the office. The aim was therefore to create a welcoming, unifying space, halfway between a professional office and the comfort of home. Everything was designed to maximise the appeal of the space: bright, comfortable offices with a contemporary design. The space is shared between a law firm and a few offices for rent, hence the importance of designing spaces that are functional, welcoming and adaptable.
The street-facing rooms, although beautifully decorated with original mouldings and wood panelling, were adjacent to more recent courtyard rooms that were dark, often windowless and in poor condition. The floor, which was uneven and outdated, further accentuated the outdated appearance of the space. Added to this was a terrace that had been left neglected, yet was full of potential.
The layout has been completely redesigned around several spaces: various small workspaces, a meeting room, and a private phone booth for one or two users. The large common room offers a variety of possibilities: it can be used as a kitchen, reception room, projection space or even a yoga studio thanks to its built-in equipment. The terrace, which is fully utilised, now extends this warm atmosphere, in keeping with the interior wood panelling. It offers the perfect outdoor space for a quick break.
Technical interventions have enhanced the space: the courtyard windows have been raised to their original height, allowing more natural light to enter. The floors have been unified with Chilewich, a woven vinyl that absorbs noise, is durable and easy to maintain, ideal for professional use. The only exception is the parquet flooring laid in the shared room to create a warmer atmosphere, echoing the natural materials used on the terrace. Every choice, from the materials to the layout of the spaces, was guided by a single objective: to create a workplace that is both functional and aesthetically pleasing.
